What is servant outreach, and why is it important to our church? Part of Sharing Your Church is sharing your church’s love for Christ. We are definitely living in a different world than we were 5-10 years ago. Is simply walking up to people and witnessing to them still effective in our world of 2008? Yes, it actually is. However, the question is how to start talking to these people? Relational evangelism allows you to get to know someone and share life experiences with them before sharing your life story and relationship with Christ with them. Servant Outreach doesn’t give you that much time. You have to engage people in a conversation. What better way to do that than by serving them in some way. For example, it’s a hot day outside and you set up in a downtown area and simply hand out free bottled water. How difficult is that? Now you have people’s attention and they want to know what the catch is. What’s the catch, no catch, simply want to share the love that God gives me through Christ. I’d be willing to bet you you’ll be talking to more people in 30 minutes than most of us talk to in weeks.
